Welcome to my channel for details of motorcycles that i have made, road rides and maintenance and especially an in depth look into how i make some of my engines. Also detailed is the Millyard Racing DH mountain bike. I like anything mechanical including vintage lawn mowers and workshop equipment. I enjoy riding all my motorcycles every summer, and ride my trusty Honda ST1100 and Yamaha YL1 all year round . My Kawasaki Z2300 V12, Z1600 V8, First H1 850 five and First SS100 V Twin are in the Barber museum Birmingham Alabama USA and my third SS100 V Twin is in the Sammy miller Museum in the New Forrest UK. I also work with Henry Cole filming episodes of Junk & Disorderly, The Motorbike Show, shed & Burried and Find it Fix it Flog it for ITV and Channel 4
Norton Nemesis V8 rebuild - Episode 8
In this video im taking a close look at the crankshaft, bearings, conrods and an update on other components that require attention
Note: All parts will be thoroughly cleaned before final assembly, so any debris , swarf dust of dirt seen under macro cinimatography in this video will be cleaned off later.
The Norton Nemeses is a pre production prototype that was made in the late 90's with claims of a 200+mph top speed from its 1500cc fuel injected V8 engine.
As far as I'm aware, this is the only bike that has survived but if any of you know of other bikes please leave a comment. This bike is owned by the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham UK has been on display as a non running exhibit for many years.
I have already worked on the bike last year getting the engine to run after a few rudimentary checks, new oil and batteries for series 12 of Henry Cole's "The Motorbike Show" where Henry rode it for a few miles up to around 50 mph, but it wasn't running very well and was leaking a lot of oil and coolant.
Episodes of "The Motorbike show" can be seen on itvx player on line and some shorter edits are available on Henrys UA-cam channel.
Over the coming months I will be stripping the bike to sort out a few issues with the V8 engine and hopefully make it run and ride how it was intended 25 years ago.

In this video I start up the Z1 900 engine after its complete rebuild, and then ride the bike for the first time. The engine has a flat spot midrange feeling like its week on the needle so I remove the needles and raise them one groove to richen the mixture a little bit. The second test ride is much better, the flat spot has gone and its now covered 53 miles and is running perfect with no oil l...

I have left off the starter motor and alternator for the time being to reduce weight of then engine to make it lighter to lift back into the frame. Episode 2 - In this episode I start the rebuild of my Kawasaki Z1B 900 engine building up the cylinder head and barrels. My aim was to clean, recondition and use as many original parts as possible if they are within service limit. This engine started and ran really well with no nasty noises before being stripped, but was cosmetically corroded with rusty screws etc from around 40 years in storage.

Millyard Viper V10 motorcycle - Maintenance and test ride
The difference between a competent engineer and an artist is love. You can just tell this engine is going to run lovely, and it will do that for Allen because he had the sensitivity to detect and alleviate its distresses.
I love to listen to You and watch Your work! You sound like a nice fella! And, of course, You do new manifold - this one looks like welded by drunken monkey!
I wouldn’t be surprised to hear him say, “I took the iPhone apart and then reassembled it and now it’s a Star Trek tricorder. It works just fine.”
I have now done two welding projects, using a janky old stick welder. I am terrible. And I still reckon I could make a better manifold than the original
Mate, a new manifold by your design can only improve the engine.
10:30. What happened to the protective tape ??
If Sir Alan Millyard dumped down his vids anymore for US we would be neanderthals . What a skilled man he is
That manifold is an embarrassment…hence wrapping it with copious amounts of fg wrap! Make new, we know you will anyway. Thanks Allen for calming content as always
Big vote for new manifold Allen 🤚
Keep the manifold ! leave it on your step at Halloween , it’s one of the most frightening things I’ve ever seen .
New exhaust plz. That thing is a travesty.
Yup a new manifold I reckon.
that manifold just sums up how cobbled together this bike really was. Nice to see Allen is putting things right
Great work and I do like the use of the word 'nice' in the old fashioned description as, accurate, precise and so on. Just be VERY careful of Hewing; he is not best known for paying his bills.
A new one, especially as one of the ports is flowing away from the exhaust exit. Plus, the rest of the bike is now looking like engineering exellence...
Apologies, I haven't read all the comments here - but I can't be the only one thinking that if Allen had been involved in the development of this bike from the outset it wouldn't have flopped!!!! Now some 25 years on we'd all now have the chance to buy and a Norton V8 production bike !!!! And no Allen, I don't believe that with your engineering excellence and attention to detail that for a moment you will put that hideous piece of junk masquerading as an exhaust back on the bike, it needs a new AM item ❤
I firmly believe it would be preferable to replace the "lash up" manifold, even the welding is Gorilla standard!
to hell with the exhaust..............I want a cupcake !!!!!
My Favourite part... the Cup Cakes ! yes.
Did Henry make that manifold?
Has to be a new one Al
Allen that was absolutely a master class bud of good engineering love it 👍👍👍👍👍
I have really enjoyed this series so far, it seems like the engineers who built this engine were in a big rush to produce this without following the design tolerances. Your build will be much better and I think you should probably design new exhaust manifolds or change it to custom headers.
That exhaust is a makeshift POS. One that fits is up tp your standard.
Fantastic video. Please make a new exhaust manifold
I know the bike was a prototype but geez no pride in the workman ship
My jaw kept dropping 😊
That old manifold is shite. Don't try and re-use anything you find buried in the garden.
My expert advice - do'n't try this at home, after several pints, especially if you haven't got a lathe. Things can get messy.. Eve if you have got a lathe
You have to build a new one. The bike needs it.
I wonder if anyone would admit to making that exhaust manifold ?
why do some v8 crankshafts are flat and other cros plane ?
Make a new manifold👍
This video reminded me about Plastiguage, my brother gave me some when I was rebuilding a Fiat 128 3p engine, I remember it being blue
Fantastic Allen! Give you a block of aluminum and a lathe and you can make just about anything. This great viewing for one tired old retired mechanic
Yep make a new manifold, no wonder they wrapped the old one, so no one could see what a mess it was.
Alan, definitely make some new manifolds! Really enjoying the rebuild episodes!👍
Would love to see you make a new manifold.
Rightyo then we will just give the new big ends and main bearings a good old hand scraping to ensure the best fit....🤏 🕛🕧🕐🕜🕑🕝🕒...🙂😂 👍👋👋👋 Not only is Alan THE guru, he's an internet parts search genius too. Nemesis as found? = $350.25c After AM build? = $1,750,000.00
بہت ہی اچھی ویڈیو بھائی میں بھی ایک مکینک ہوں موٹرسائیکل کا کام کرتا ہو
Make new manifolds, the one shown is disgusting
"Better than new" comes to mind
That manifold is disgusting.
that welding on the manifold......please replace with an AM24 special
That manifold looks like the chernobyl elephants foot. 😢
That exhaust manifold is horrendous. Start afresh and create a new one.
Charlie weaver was absolutely furious with that manifold I don't blame him 😂
The welding on the manifold looks like it was done by the pigeons.
Make a new header pipe
If there are 3 wheels, it will definitely be safer
